Goffstown Junior Baseball 2020 Covid-19 Guidelines for Stay at Home 2.0 Phase 2

Phase 2 – Allows for all teams to participate in games and practicing of baseball outdoors at the GJB fields. All players, coaches, board members and parents will need to adhere to the following guidelines:

  • No staff and/or parents may transport multiple kids from the team unless they all wear face coverings.
  • All players, coaches, board members and parents should bring a reusable/washable face covering to all practices and events.
  • All parents/guardians of players will be asked to wear face coverings when social distancing is not possible.
  • Social distancing of six feet will be maintained between coaches and players.
  • Each manager will assign a dedicated parent or coach to monitor social distancing and compliance with protective actions, as well as prompt other staff and athletes about social distancing, hand hygiene, and the use of cloth face coverings. This individual will help to ensure players are using hand sanitizer prior to practice, in-between drills and after practice. They will also help guide players on where to place their equipment prior to practices and be sure that good social distancing practices are maintained. This individual will conduct the team screening questionnaire and report any issues to the GJB Safety Officer (Jason Smedick, [email protected]).
  • All coaches and players will be screened on arrival to each game and practice, by the manager of the team or dedicated parent/coach, with the following questions:
    • Have you or anyone you know felt any symptoms of Covid-19 is the past 24 hours?
    • Do you have a fever of 100.4 degrees F or greater?
    • Have you traveled in the past 14 days:
  • Internationally (outside U.S),
  • By cruise ship, or
  • Domestically (within the U.S.) outside of NH, VT, or ME on public transportation (e.g., bus, train, plane, etc.)
  • If anyone answers yes to any of the above questions, they must remove themselves from play for at least 10 days.
  • If any member of the team (Coaches, Players, or Parents) feel sick or present symptoms they must remove themselves from play for at least 10 days and report any issues to the GJB Safety Officer (Jason Smedick: [email protected]).
  • Practices and games may begin with groups of no more than 50 people. Parents and guardians are still encouraged to remain in their cars for practices. However, if or when they are watching they must maintain social distancing of six feet and stay in designated area.
  • Umpires are only required to wear masks if they are out in the field. If an umpire chooses to call ball and strikes from behind home plate, then no mask is required. If the umpire calls balls and strikes from behind the mound as approved by Little League, then he must wear a mask. Base umpires are always required to wear a mask.
  • If a mound conference between player and catcher occurs, the catcher must use his glove as a protective mask and maintain the six feet of social distancing. Coaches will have to have on protective face coverings and follow the six-foot rule as well.
  • During games a limited number of spectators (Immediate family of athletes) will be allowed to be outside of all in play areas and must practice social distancing of six feet or wear a mask. No bleacher areas will be allowed.
  • All teams will be assigned their own areas for warmups.
  • All Teams must provide their own equipment and practice balls for warmups.
  • Hand sanitizer stations have been made available in all dug outs and shall be used by all coaches and players at the beginning and end of each inning and/or drills.
  • All coaches will go over this guidance with their players prior to the commencement of practice and/or games.
  • If any member of the team (Coaches, Players, and Parents) feels sick or presents symptoms they must remove themselves from play for at least 10 days.
  • During games, the bench and/or dugout shall be allowed to be extended to areas behind and outside and shall be protected by a safety fence or be clearly delineated. Players and coaches must wear mask or maintain six feet of social distancing.
  • Each team is to be assigned game balls prior to the start of the game. They will be required to bring one of their game balls out when starting their inning and back to the dugout at the conclusion of their inning. These will be that team’s game balls for the entirety of the game. Teams should not switch or interchange game balls.
  • Each player going out to play defense is required to use hand sanitizer before going out in the field of play.
  • The concession stand will be an isolation area for anyone that develops symptoms during the game and or practice.
  • All coaches and players will bring their own equipment and water bottles.
  • All coaches and players will be required to have hand sanitizer on site.
  • There will be no storage of equipment bags in the dugouts. All bags will be outside at 6 feet apart in designated area.
  • All games and/or practices will be scheduled at intervals that will allow time for teams and spectators to leave and arrive at the fields separately to ensure proper social distancing and time for disinfection of areas and equipment.
  • There will be no gum or seed consumption on site.
  • All coaches are required to bring trash bags to the field and remove all trash after practice. The GJB fields should now be considered carry in/carry out until further notice.
  • In the event that equipment is shared, said equipment must be disinfected at the commencement of each practice and/or game.

Goffstown has, and always will, take great pride in both our community and our baseball program. The members of the board and our coaches are doing their very best to meet the guidelines as set forth by the Governor’s Economic Reopening Task Force.

We ask that as a great baseball community, everyone do their best to ensure the safety of our players, volunteers, and spectators. We understand that these are guidelines and ask that you do your best to meet them. We are all working through this together to ensure our little leaguers have a safe and memorable season.

Let’s play ball!
